As an Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for the meticulous planning and seamless execution of corporate events, conferences, and meetings. Your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with clients to understand their objectives, setting budgets, determining attendees, selecting venues, and finalizing event schedules. During the pre-event phase, you will negotiate contracts with vendors, including hotels, catering services, and transportation providers. On-site, you will oversee event registration, manage catering and audio-visual setups, and act as the main point of contact for troubleshooting any technical or logistical issues that may arise.
Financial oversight is a crucial aspect of the role, where you will review event-related bills, process payments, and maintain financial records to ensure adherence to budgets. In addition to physical event coordination, you will also be proficient in managing virtual event platforms like Zoom or Webex, facilitating breakout sessions, and ensuring a seamless experience for remote attendees. Effective communication skills are essential for liaising with vendors, clients, and team members, while your problem-solving abilities will be put to the test in resolving unforeseen challenges under pressure.
For this position, a bachelor's degree in disciplines such as hospitality, communications, or business is typically required. While not mandatory, obtaining the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential from the Events Industry Council is highly regarded within the industry.
